Opening time: Mon. to Sat. 9-18, Sun. 9-12.30
public property Recommended by: LBV The archaeological collection on display, coming from donations and local excavation campaigns, illustrates the civilization of Siena and its territory from Prehistory to the Roman Period. The Etruscan section, with grave goods, Italic vases and "bucheroes", Etrusco-Roman urns, Etruscan gold-works, and a numismatical collection are particularly interesting. Remarkable exhibit: the sarcophagus known as the Sarcophagus of the Chigi Muses, found in the oldest centre of the city, which is a copy of a Hellenistic original. |
