Housed in the 13th-century former monastery of St. Matthew, the museum keeps an important collection of 14th- and 15th-century Pisan sculptures, paintings from the Tuscan school (12th-14th-century), a collection of 16th-century ceramic basins of Pisan production, Italian and non-Italian paintings up to the 18th-century, ecclesiastical vestments and gold-works. Among the various works are a Madonna by Nicola Pisano, St. Paul by Masaccio, the Madonna of Humility by Gentile of Fabriano, a polyptych by Simone Martini. In addition, small bronzes, polychrome statues, ivory works, miniatures, tapestries and glass works.
